Tradition Crasher: Why The Religious Leaders Hated Jesus
God With Us - Part 8: JesusJesus
Message 8: Tradition Crasher: Why The Religious Leaders Hated Jesus
Jesus went to the cross because God His Father sent Him into the world to die a sacrificial death for the sins of the world. Yet, God allowed human agency to be the means by which Jesus was taken to the cross. While the Roman leaders were involved because their authority was required to impose the death penalty, it was the Jewish religious leaders in that day who sought to do away with Jesus. They saw Jesus as a threat to their authority, their beliefs, and to the tenuous stability they had managed to broker with the Romans. At the deepest heart level, they rejected Jesus because they were unwilling to acknowledge that God the Father had sent Him into the world.
