Wisdom & Folly: Purity

No topic in Proverbs is addressed with more urgency and graphic imagery than the topic of sexuality. This is because human sexuality IS a powerful gift from God that can be used in ways that bring about great good, or great harm in our lives. Sex has been likened to a fire in a home. If you keep the fire within the fireplace, it can bring warmth, light and pleasure. If you let the fire burn out of control, outside of the fireplace, it will bring about destruction. The main message of Proverbs is that God has created sex for our good, but we must enjoy this gift within the bounds He has set, otherwise it will bring us harm and sadness.
